After announcing its collaboration with Ducati, Pocher now delights us with the news of an agreement with Ferrari, and the result of this new partnership is its next scale model kit, the Ferrari F50. This model was created to commemorate the brand's 50th anniversary and was unveiled in 1995 at the Geneva Motor Show. The Ferrari F50 embodies pure engineering, with its Formula 1-derived V12 engine and exquisite design. This Pocher scale model kit faithfully captures its complexity and iconic lines, and thanks to its removable roof panel, it can be configured as either a Berlinetta or a Spider. With over 688 individually designed parts, this extraordinary 1/8 scale model kit embodies meticulous craftsmanship and the authenticity of Ferrari.

The Ferrari F50, much like the F40 before it when the brand celebrated its 40th anniversary, was designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari—although it was unveiled before the actual anniversary—and, when it first appeared at the 1995 Geneva International Motor Show, it was hailed as a “road-legal Formula 1 car.” As a marketing strategy, and fully confident in the appeal of the new model, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo announced that only 349 units would be produced, one less than they had anticipated selling.

Beneath the transparent, grilled plastic cover at the rear lay the heart of the F50: a naturally aspirated, 4698.5 cc, 60-valve Ferrari Tipo F130B V12 engine. It was mid-mounted and longitudinally attached to the rear bulkhead of the monocoque. Both the differential and the fully synchronized six-speed gearbox were mounted behind the engine, with the suspension bolted directly to the gearbox—in other words, the entire structure and assembly was identical to that of a Formula 1 car.

Not only was the engine influenced by Formula 1, but the entire concept. From the pushrod rear suspension and carbon fibre chassis to the titanium connecting rods in the engine, the magnesium alloy wheels, and the front and rear hubs (which incorporated a solution invented and patented by Ferrari for its single-seaters), the F50 featured Formula 1-derived technological advancements from start to finish. Even the Goodyear Fiorano tires had been developed specifically for the Ferrari F50.

Designed by Pininfarina, the F50 underwent over 2,000 hours of wind tunnel testing to achieve perfection in its design and airflow management. Thanks to the use of sophisticated composite materials and Formula 1 aerodynamic and construction technology, the F50 featured numerous curves, air intakes and outlets, an even more radical rear wing than the F40's, and a removable hardtop.

Inside, air conditioning was standard, while the instrument panel featured an illuminated digital display. Otherwise, the F50 was relatively basic, even lacking power steering, power brakes, and ABS.
