This new Italeri reference of its 1/24 scale Fiat 131 Abarth scale model kit, announced for 2026, will incorporate new parts to reproduce the version used in the Safari Rally.

The Fiat 131 Abarth was built based on the chassis of the two-door Fiat 131. The development carried out by Abarth focused mainly on reducing the weight of the car by using lighter materials, also taking the opportunity to incorporate other modifications and improvements. New winglets and wheel arches were also installed to allow the mounting of wider wheels, and new air intakes were designed on the hood and on the sides to optimize mechanical cooling. The 4-cylinder engine, mounted longitudinally, was characterized by using a light alloy cylinder head and 4 valves per cylinder.
The Fiat 131 Abarth was built from 1976 and was used in the World Rally Championship, where it achieved important results such as a Constructors' Championship, a Drivers' Championship and an FIA Trophy. It participated in international competitions until 1982, when the Fiat group decided that Lancia would be the brand that would represent them in rallies. One of the most famous victories occurred in the 1977 Rally de Portugal, with Marku Alen at the wheel, in what was his second victory in this rally.
