Spectacular 1/24 scale reproduction of the 3.3-liter Ferrari V12 engine powered by 6 carburetors designed by engineer Gioacchino Colombo, from which the engine's nickname comes. Manufactured using 3D printing with high-quality resin, the engine was initially designed to be mounted in the MFH scale model kit of the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Competizione at 1/24 scale (where the modeler could mount it), but since not everyone has that kit, it has been adapted to be displayed externally mounted on a support trolley included among the parts you will find in the box. A true work of art to display an engine with a lot of history, since Ferrari used it with different evolutions in its models for more than 40 years.
Additional details for the
Ferrari Colombo V12 3.3L engine:
Although the idea of developing a 1.5-liter V-12 engine may seem crazy today, it must not have seemed so to Ferrari, as this was the configuration used in Ferrari's first engines. This V-12 engine was designed by Gioacchino Colombo in the late 1940s for use in Formula 1, although it was later adapted for use in road cars, where it was characterized by its smooth running, progressive response, and distinctive sound, which has been forever associated with Ferrari models.
Initially available in 1.5 litres, the engine was developed and increased in displacement, reaching 4.9 litres, generating from around 120 hp in the first versions of 1947 to around 400 hp by the time the engine was retired in 1989. This engine also achieved great fame as it was used to power many of the Ferrari racing cars of the 1950s and 1960s.
