Jari-Matti Latvala did not travel to Gran Canaria to lead the Toyota Gazoo Racing team in the inaugural world championship of the Canary Islands Rally, as he was present at the start ramp of the 33rd edition of the Historic Vltava Rally, a European Historic Rally Championship event, where he took victory.
Co-driven by the also Finnish Tuukka Shemeikka, they managed to place the Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD (ST185) at the top of the classification, beating Tibor Érdi and István Kerék by +3:44.6 on a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4×4 from Group A and by +5:19.5 over Vojt
