Ferrari SF90XX Spider

Although the Ferrari SF90 was a beast, with more than 1.000 hp of power thanks to its plug-in hybrid engine, Ferrari has sought to take things even further with a version that offers even more performance and sporty sensations, giving rise to the Ferrari SF90XX Stradale and SF90XX Spider versions. The XX surname identifies the most extreme models created by Ferrari within its XX program for circuits, but unlike its predecessors, such as the Ferrari FXX, the FXX K or the 599XX, the Ferrari SF90XX is approved for use on public roads.

Among other distinguishing features, the Ferrari SF90XX features a more aggressive front end with larger air intakes, a redesigned bonnet with two S-Duct ducts that channel air towards the central section of the underbody of the car, providing additional ground suction, fins equipped with gills and, above all, a notably transformed rear end with an aggressive diffuser under the new exhaust outlets, horizontally extended taillights and an aggressive fixed rear spoiler with two different configurations, LD (Low Drag) and HD (High Downforce).

Inside, the changes to the SF90XX have focused mainly on the materials, with upholstery that combines Alcantara and technical fabrics. The carbon seats save 2.6 kg, which together with other small changes mean a total weight reduction of 10 kg. The SF90XX Stradale weighs just 1.560kg, while the Spider version goes up to 1.660kg, which is really little for a hybrid vehicle that has three electric motors.

As far as the mechanics are concerned, the SF90XX uses the hybrid powertrain of the SF90 as a base, with its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 combustion engine and the three electric motors, although with subtle improvements that mean an extra 30 hp to give a total of around 1.030 hp. This has been achieved with improvements to the intake and exhaust manifolds, new pistons and other adjustments, which increase the power of the combustion engine to 797 hp at 7.900 rpm compared to the 780 hp of the "normal" SF90, with the cut-off set at 8.300 rpm. Its maximum torque is 804 Nm at 6.250 rpm. The combined power of the three electric motors (an MGU-K between the V8 and the gearbox and two electric motors at the front for all-wheel drive) has also been improved, from 220 hp to 233 hp, while they have been equipped with a new "extra boost" system through electronic control. With all this, the Ferrari SF90XX is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.5 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 320 km/h.

In addition, its two front electric motors are able to operate independently, not only to improve handling by offering effective torque vectoring to the front axle, but also autonomously without the combustion engine, making the SF90 a front-wheel drive electric vehicle! These two electric motors have a power output of 233 hp, which together with their 7.9 kWh battery, offer a range in 100% electric mode of 25 km at a speed of up to 135 km/h.

In principle, Ferrari has announced that production of the SF90XX Stradale will be limited to 799 units, to which must be added the 599 planned for the Spider version.
