This is a scale model kit to be assembled by an adult; it includes all the parts as indicated but it does not include glue or paints, which can also be purchased separately at SpotModel!.
This kit allows you to choose between the different versions of the Group 4 Fiat 131 Abarth of the official Fiat Alitalia team that took part in the San Remo Rally and the Tour de Corse in 1978. At the San Remo Rally the best placed car was the #1 driven by Maurizio Verini, taking second place, while at the Tour de Corse the Fiat 131 won thanks to Bernard Darniche also with number #1. The kit includes white metal, resin and turned metal parts, completed with photo-etched plates, slick rubber tyres with Pirrelli markings on the sides, decals including all the Alitalia stripes printed by Cartograf and different types of cables. Once assembled, both the doors and the front and rear hoods can be opened, revealing the entire interior and mechanical parts. What a beauty!

Additional details for the Fiat 131 Abarth car scale model kit:

In the exciting world of rallying, few cars have left as much of a mark as the Group 4 Fiat 131 Abarth Rally. The Fiat Abarth 131 Rally was conceived at a time when rally racing was gaining prominence, and Fiat, in collaboration with the Abarth racing division, set out to create a rally car that could win on any terrain.

With this in mind, in 1975 Abarth developed the “SE031”, a Group 5 prototype based on the 131 that debuted at the 1975 Giro d`Italia Automobilistico, winning the event. The importance of this prototype lies in the fact that many of the modifications and solutions it incorporated, such as the use of aluminium doors or the location of the different air intakes on the bodywork and bonnet, would be used on the 131 Abarth.

During the summer of 1976, the 400 units required for homologation were produced, and that same year it made its debut in the World Rally Championship, taking part in four events and achieving its first victory at the 1000 Lakes Rally thanks to Markku Alen.

One of the main features of the Fiat 131 Abarth was its formidable propulsion system. Hidden beneath its modest exterior was a robust 2.0-litre, double-overhead-cam, inline-four engine, generating around 140 horsepower. This engine was known as the Lampredi, in honour of the former Ferrari engineer Aurelio Lampredi, who was in charge of the engine's tuning. Another feature of the Fiat 131 Abarth was its exceptional balance and agility, thanks to its developed suspension and low weight. The Fiat 131 Abarth Rally quickly established itself as one of the dominant models in the world of rallying.

In 1977, not without some reluctance on the part of Lancia, the racing divisions of Fiat and Lancia were merged into one, and with Cesare Fiorio appointed manager, the factory team was further strengthened, mainly thanks to the technical team that until then had been in charge of the development of the Lancia Stratos. The Fiat 131 Abarth took part in all the races of the 1977 World Championship with the exception of the Safari Rally, managing to win 5 of the 10 races in which it participated and taking the manufacturers' title. For the 1978 season the team's main sponsor became Alitalia, and the Fiat team again won the manufacturers' championship, again winning 5 races, dominating ahead of rivals such as Opel and Ford. The factory team and the 131 Abarth would add another new title in the manufacturers' category in 1980. To these titles as a manufacturer we must add those obtained by its drivers, Markku Alen as FIA Cup Champion for Drivers in 1978 (the drivers' championship did not yet officially exist) and Walter Röhrl as World Champion in 1980. In 1981, factory activities with the 131 were suspended, and participation in rallies once again became the responsibility of Lancia, once its Lancia 037 Rally had been developed.
