A few years before the start of World War II, the government asked Ferdinand Porsche to design a car that all Germans could afford. The concept was called "Kraft Durch Freude Wagen", giving rise to the mythical Volkswagen "Beetle", the name by which we know it today. Ferdinand Porsche finished the design in the year 1934 and the first limited production started in the year 1938.

The KDF vehicle had a clever and simple design that should guarantee a totally reliable car, as it ultimately was. The sheet steel body was installed on a chassis equipped with torsion bar suspension on both axles. The air-cooled four-cylinder boxer engine was installed at the rear of the car, and the trunk at the front.

After World War II ended, production resumed in Wolfsburg, Germany, and soon the Volkswagen was sold all over the world. People nicknamed the car "Beetle" because of its appearance. The car evolved over the years, and mechanically it was improved by leaps and bounds, passing the initial 1,131 cc engines. up to 1,584 cc. of the latest versions manufactured in Europe.

In total, more than 20 million Volkswagen Beetles have been produced since its launch in 1938, which is a world record in automobile production.

The Japanese company Hasegawa has been one of the benchmarks for civilian vehicles for years, with fantastic models of cars and motorcycles. Although their most classic products continue to delight the most demanding modellers, with reissues that allow us to continue enjoying them, the new molds from this manufacturer have been quite a surprise (a pleasant one) due to their considerable jump in quality both in details as in fittings. If you try, surely you will repeat!
