Paints recommended by Tamiya / SpotModel for this product:
The first series of the Renault 5 Turbo 1 was produced from 1980 to 1983. In order to be lighter for use in competition, the Turbo version was equipped with aluminium doors, boot lid and roof, as well as fibreglass bumpers and a polyurethane rear spoiler. Inside, the information available to the driver was increased, with a dashboard and a specific rectangular instrument panel with circular dials.
On the mechanical side, it was fitted with a 1.397 cc inline 4-cylinder engine, equipped with a Bosch K-Jetronic injection and a Garrett T3 turbocharger. Power reached 160 hp at 6.000 rpm, with a maximum torque of 210 Nm at 3.250 rpm, and power was transmitted to the rear wheels through a 5-speed gearbox. Weighing just 941 kilos, the Renault 5 Turbo reached a top speed of 205 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
