The Jaguar XJ200 was rarely seen in competition. Officially, it only raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1993 and 1995, but some examples were seen in private hands in both the British and Italian Championships, which is precisely where the version that this kit allows to be made was raced. This XJ220 was slightly modified compared to the road car, and did not have factory support, but it did feature iconic decoration thanks to its main sponsor, Martini. The kit includes the BBS wheels that it used in competition, as well as a specific competition interior with seat, steering wheel, fire extinguisher and door panels. In addition, the kit allows the complete engine to be made, which will be visible through the rear engine cover.

The beginnings of the Jaguar XJ220 are quite unusual, insofar as it originated from the ideas and creativity of Jaguar employees. A working group called "The Saturday Club" led to the creation of a "concept car", which was presented at the British Motor Show in 1988, generating public praise and, predictably, orders and deposits of £50,000. necessary for the reserve arrived en masse from all corners of the world.
The original concept was a car with a V12 engine, six-speed gearbox and four-wheel drive, priced at just under £300,000. From this initial development work, the Jaguar XJ220 emerged some four years later, when production began in 1991. The final model of the Jaguar which had a final price of 470,000 pounds. Unsurprisingly, many of the 1,200 buyers who had reserved the car tried to cancel their purchase due to the huge change in specifications.
Despite this, the Jaguar XJ200 was still a light and extremely powerful vehicle, with all the characteristics of a true "super sports car", and was recognizable by its aerodynamic design and extremely modern lines for the time. The Jaguar XJ220 also became famous for its top speed among production vehicles, reaching 350 km/h, a record that stood between 1992 and 1994.
