Additional details for the Renault 4 CV
car scale model kit:
October 1946. At the first Paris Motor Show after the war, the new Renault 4 CV is presented. The development of an economic utility began in 1941 and was interrupted by the war. The owner of the brand, Louis Renault, was accused in 1944 of collaboration with Nazism and died in a French prison. Meanwhile, at Renault, work continued on the development of a small vehicle, in order to stay ahead of its competitors, Peugeot and Citroën.
The 4 CV is a four-door, four-seater utility vehicle with a rear-mounted four-cylinder engine that delivered 17 hp of power. The 760cc engine's water cooling is ventilated by air through narrow slots between the body and rear bumper.
While the 1946 prototype had sliding windows only at the front, the 1948 model also has windows for the rear seats. From 1950, a convertible version is also available.
The Renault 4 CV will receive constant modifications until the end of its production in 1961, having marketed a total of 1,150,000 units between its different versions, a huge success for the brand, which was nationalized after the war.
