The Ferrari F1-87 is the name given to the single-seater with which Scuderia Ferrari competed in the Formula 1 World Championship in the 1987 and 1988 seasons, the one used in the latter being renamed 87/88C.
Championship regulations allowed teams to use either 1.5-litre turbo engines or naturally aspirated with a displacement of up to 3.5 litres. Ferrari opted to continue using its V6 turbo engines.
The car was designed by Gustav Brunner, and was revised by John Barnard, the engineer who had designed the McLarens from the 1985 and 1986 seasons. The Ferrari F187 had 2 wins in 1987 and 1 win in 1988, as well as numerous podiums, although that was not It was enough for Ferrari to prevail in any of the championships, neither for brands nor for drivers.
In the 88 season the McLaren Honda pairing was the great domineering, and there was only one race where they could not win, and it was at Ferrari's house, at the Italian GP held at the Monza circuit. A very special victory since it also occurred a few days after the death of Enzo Ferrari. G. Berger climbed to the top of the podium, accompanied by Michele Alboreto, in what was an emotional double that served as a tribute to the memory of Enzo Ferrari.
