Reji Model logo
The Ford Escort culminated in its evolution with its WRC version, which not only allowed it to introduce improvements to the rear suspension, but also some aerodynamic changes, with the mythical rear spoiler of the Cosworth versions disappearing. In 1998 the works team began to run with the colors of Valvoline, and to make up for the missing detail, Reji not only provides us with the decal of the decoration used in Monte Carlo, but also includes the complete front bumper and the rear spoiler, both pieces made of resin, of the WRC versions.

With these new guidelines, the team greatly gained both from the new infrastructure and from a more agile stewardship, moving away from the brand's traditional bureaucracy.

Some horses were missing that at specific times were decisive, and that perhaps prevented Carlos Sainz from going beyond third place in the 1997 season, with two victories in the Indonesia and Acropolis rallies.
In 1998 the season began with good results, Kankkunen finishing in a hopeful second place in Monte Carlo, with his teammate Thiry in sixth position. Regularity was Kankkunen's trump card for the rest of the season, with as many podium finishes in Sweden (3), Safari (2), Argentina (3), Acropolis (3), Finland (3) and Great Britain (2), which allowed him to finish the season in fourth position in the championship,
