In the early 1950s, Cadillacs were high-performance cars, equipped with 5.4-liter V8 engines with more than 160 horsepower. This unit that participated in the 1950 edition of the Panamericana was also known as "Carro México", and was commissioned before the race by the president of Mexico Miguel Alemán himself. Piloted by two soldiers, Castañeda and Estrada, and despite suffering numerous road exits, they managed to finish in 25th place overall out of forty-seven classifieds.
