Due to the latest events in Ukraine, USCP products not currently in stock might take way longer than expected to arrive to our warehouse. Thank you very much for your understanding.
This is a scale model kit to be assembled by an adult; it includes all the parts as indicated, but it does not include glue or paints. Another good product at SpotModel!.
First full resin kit by USCP, with a very correct part list, executed in
high quality gray resin. Its complete sheet of photo-etched allows the interior of the model to be detailed with great realism, such as the instrument panel or the center console. The kit includes
two sets of rims with different designs. A car ahead of its time!
Additional details for the
Citroën SM car scale model kit:
In 1970, during the brief interval of Maserati's ownership of Citroën (1969-1975), and after two years of development, the SM, Citroën's new flagship, began to be manufactured through Italian-French cooperation.
The chassis comes from the Citroën D-series (the same as the DS19 and DS21), while the engine is from Maserati, a 2,675 cc 6-cylinder V engine with 170 hp, with which the SM was capable of reaching 218 km/h.
The result of this collaboration is an original luxury coupé of almost 5 meters in length (4,895 mm) with four seats. The body is very aerodynamic, similar to that of other large Citroën of the time, with covered rear wheels and an original glass front part instead of the typical radiator grille.
The hydro-pneumatic system is also inherited from the D-series, and also features a series of new technical details, such as the headlamps that point to the inside of the curve and with automatic height correction, as well as an automatic self-centering steering system. Unfortunately, the Maserati engine, with two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank, while reliable, proved unnecessarily noisy and excessively vibrating for a luxury coupe.
In 1972 the main mechanical novelty was the replacement of the Weber carburettors by a much more modern Bosch injection. In total, between 12,920 and 12,950 units would have been manufactured, although the final figure is not entirely clear as there have been several special versions, including those built for the French government, the gendarmerie, even for the rally team.
