Model of the Audi Sport Quattro S1 Gr.B, based on the model of the Sport Quattro E2 from the same manufacturer. It has a new mold for the body, with new wings and fenders, as well as new wheels with the design used in gravel rallies, although the slick tires do not correspond to the Olympus rally version, contested entirely on gravel. A very good base to use with the different decorations used by the works Audi team in the rest of the world championship rallies.
Additional details for the
Audi Sport Quattro S1 car scale model kit:
The Toyota Olympus Rally in Washington State was the last round of the 1986 World Rally Championship. In fact, it was also the end of the Group B era, as Group B was to be banned at the end of the 1986 season. American rally legend John Buffum was there with his Audi of America supported Sport Quattro, after having been battling against Rod Millen in his AWD RX-7 in the US SCCA Pro-Rally series. The Buffum's Audi was the car that Michele Mouton drove at Pikes Peak in 1985. Back to the Olympus rally, John Buffum scored a fine 3rd place in his short wheelbase Quattro. This was John’s highest finish in a World Championship rally as well as the highest finish for an American still to this day.
