Revell surprised us with
new molds for its model of one of the most legendary English cars, the Jaguar E-Type. A very recognizable coupé for its gigantic front hood to house its longitudinally mounted
6-cylinder in-line engine, and which, being practicable, exposes not only the engine, but also
the entire front structure and the firewall panel. A very successful model, which will delight lovers of the classics of the 60s and 70s.
Additional details for the
Jaguar E-Type Coupe car scale model kit:
In 1961 the main attraction of the Geneva Motor Show was the new Jaguar E. This sports car was conceived as a fast, safe and comfortable vehicle. Within a short time, the Jaguar E would become one of the most well-known and desired sports cars in the world. The aerodynamic bodywork, designed by the British Malcolm Sayer, is characterized by its rounded shapes and its long hood slightly inclined forward. The headlights had a plexiglass cover and the front windscreen was so vertical and curved that it was necessary to mount 3 wiper arms.
Jaguar offered two variants, the coupe with a large trunk and the convertible. Initially, the Jaguar E was equipped with a 3.8-litre 6-cylinder in-line engine with 265 hp, which was subsequently replaced from 1964 by one with a larger displacement, reaching 4.2 litres, although without changing its power. Later, in the 1970s, it would be equipped with a 12-cylinder V engine with a displacement of 5.3 liters and a power of around 276 hp.
The body was self-supporting, and the entire front end is made up of a tubular frame on which the engine and front axle are mounted. Suspension was independent at all four wheels, with torsion bars at the front and a complex and expensive system of double coil springs at the rear. It also had four-wheel disc brakes as standard.
Its beauty is unquestionable, and in fact, on several occasions it has been included among the most beautiful cars in the entire history of the automobile.
