During its almost 20 years in production, the Ford T was marketed with different body configurations: Runabout, Roadster, Tourer, Coupé, Town Car and Sedan, with which Ford offers a wide range of models, from a two-seater sports car to a limousine, and even at the end of its production the range is completed with a van. The ICM brand has reproduced several of these variants, with a
detailed engine, as well as the axles and other mechanical components, and with
tires already molded in white as offered at the time. This model allows to make the
two-seater Roadster variant.
Additional details for the
Ford Model T Roadster car scale model kit:
In October 1908 the Ford T starts a new era in automobile production, and with it Ford manages to create the "universal car". A vehicle with which Ford tries to meet its own quality demands, and where the priorities for the T model are reliability and functionality, while luxury is conspicuous by its absence. The bodies of the first years are made of wood. Later, the structure is covered with aluminum plates, and later with steel. For this reason the vehicle is popularly known as Tin Lizzy.
A large part of the parts are manufactured in the early years at the facilities of suppliers, including the Dodge brothers, with Ford acting more as an assembly plant than a production one. Years later, Ford also breaks new ground in production methods. The first step is the introduction of the "conveyor chain" in the manufacture of parts. Subsequently, other manufacturing processes are integrated and, finally, the manufacture of parts and the final assembly are unified in a homogeneous system.
What is known as the "assembly line" was born, allowing Ford to enter the mass production of automobiles.
