Paints recommended by Belkits / SpotModel for this product:
The MG Metro 6R4 was a racing car based on the MG Metro with group B homologation. It was built by Rover and competed in the World Rally Championship between 1985 and 1986. Its best result was the third place achieved by the British driver Tony Pond at the car's debut race at the 1985 RAC Rally of Great Britain.
Rover opted to create a non-turbocharged car, proving that it could be as competitive as the other Group B cars, but lacking the same financing or means of the rest of the brands it was decided to hire Williams engineers to build the car. A 3-liter V-six engine was mounted centrally, reaching 400 hp of power, and had four-wheel drive. It featured large spoilers that generated high downforce.
Despite the good expectations generated after the podium in the last rally of the 1985 season, the year 1986 did not start on the right foot for Rover, since in the Monte Carlo rally both cars abandoned the race.
Like most of the group B cars, once its participation in the World Championship was banned, the Metro 6R4 continued to compete in Rallycross events, being one of the most successful models.
