Additional details for the
McLaren Ford MP4/8 car scale model kit:
The McLaren MP4/8 was the name of the Formula 1 single seater with which the McLaren team competed in the 1993 Formula 1 World Championship. The car was designed by Neil Oatley, and incorporated the latest technological advances based on complex electronics, such as the semi-automatic transmission, active suspension, two-way telemetry and traction control systems. All of these systems were developed in collaboration with one of McLaren's shareholders, TAG (Techniques d'Avant Garde). The MP4/8 was powered by the Ford HBD7 3.5 litter V8 engine.
Although the 1993 season was dominated by Alain Prost's Williams-Renault FW15C, Senna's skill allowed him to win as many as five races, finishing second in the Drivers' Championship. Among the 5 races in which Senna won was the last event of the season held in Australia, and McLaren had to wait up to 4 years to achieve a new victory, when David Coulthard won the 1997 Australian Grand Prix in the MP4/12.
