In the 1977 season, Fiat used up to 20 units of the 131 Abarth. One of them was the one used by Lampinen and The Checkered Flag team with an unusual number, 13, and whose version we can make thanks to Reji's complete decal sheet.

Having had limited success with the 124 Abarth Rally, Fiat designed a truly magnificent rally car in the 131 Abarth saloon. First seen in 1975, it started winning in 1976, and helped Fiat to win the World Championship for Makes in 1977, 1978 and 1980 (Ford won in 1979!). In the same period, Walter Röhrl, driving Fiats, was individual World Rally Champion in 1980. In the 1977 RAC Rally of England, Marku Alen, Timi Salonen or Mauricio Verini had abandoned due to different problems in their 131 Abarths, so The Checkered Flag team unit became the best Fiat at the finish line, finishing in seventh position of the rally.
