The Alpine A110 was a very popular vehicle in the early 1970s, achieving international fame as a rally car during the 1970-1972 seasons, when it entered the newly created International Manufacturers' Championship, winning several races in Europe and being considered one of the best rally cars of its time.
Its most notable performances include victory at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1971 with Swedish driver Ove Andersson. At the same time, the purchase of Alpine by Renault was forged, while the International Championship for Manufacturers was replaced by the World Rally Championship for Manufacturers in the 1973 season. For this championship, Renault chose to compete with the A110, being one of the first vehicles that participated in said championship.
The Alpine A110 made its debut at the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally, being victorious by Frenchman Jean-Claude Andruet, making it the first car to win a round of the newly launched World Rally Championship. In that 1973 season the A110 won most of the races in which it participated, reaching a total of six wins, giving Alpine the first constructors' world title.
