The Porsche 956 was a Group C sports-prototype racing car built by the German car manufacturer Porsche, racing at the World Endurance Championship from 1982 to 1986. Twenty eight units were officially built. Its evolution, the Porsche 962, was replacing this model since 1985. The 956 had an aluminum monocoque body, and a total weight between 820 and 850 kilograms. Its engine, derived from the preceding Porsche 936, was a 6 cylinder twin-turbo 2.65L flat engine, with a maximum power of 620-640hp at 8200 rpm. and a maximum torque of 650 Nm at 5400 rpm.
