This reference from Studio27 replaces the discontinued ST27-DC638C, and will let you recreate the mind blowing M1 at 1983 Tour de Corse, unsuccessfully driven by Beguin due to mechanical problems. Don't forget to add the white paint for the base color of the car to your order.

Additional details for the BMW M1 Group 4 marking / livery:

The BMW M1 made its debut in the World Rally Championship in the same event as the Lancia Rally 037, the 1982 Tour de Corse. At the time of its debut, it was the most powerful car with 430 hp thanks to its 3.5-litre in-line six, but it was also by far the widest at 20cm wider than any of its rivals.

The Oreca racing team developed the M1 for rallying, and its driver was Bernard Darniche. The M1 made its first appearance at the Rally du Var of the French rally championship the previous year, but a broken suspension early in the rally did not give it a chance to show its pace. Before Corsica, the car was tested in another small French tarmac rally, but the transmission failed. In Corsica, he performed well despite his size and Darniche took him as far as fourth overall before a broken gearbox mount caused an engine oil pipe to fracture, forcing him to retire. The car was quite heavy, weighing in at 1,150kg for Corsica.

The team was reluctant to do the entire French Championship as planned, simply because a lot of development would be needed to prepare the M1 for its participation in the off-road tests that had been introduced in the championship. In fact, Darniche took part in the Mont Blanc Rally, which he led, only to withdraw before the final stage as a protest against the inclusion of gravel stages in an asphalt rally.

But reliability was their main problem. And when it became necessary to re-homologate the car as a Gr.B for 1983, the problems with manufacturing the car at the production line were such that BMW did not bother to consider the rally option.

The Japanese brand Studio27 was one of the pioneers in creating accessories so that we could improve and modify our models. Decals, photo-etched parts and transkits were quite a discovery a few years ago. They have continued to innovate, and without neglecting the products that earned their well-deserved fame, their commitment to carbon fiber patterns for many of our models has been another huge success. Absolutely essential!
