The 107B was the first of the many evolutions made to the Lotus 107 during its longlasting racing life. In 1993, the new rules on the chassis was critical for taking the decision of developing the new version, and Lotus got the chance to improve at the same time the front and difussors; but the most important change was finally adding the computer controled active shock absorbers.
