Complete plate of photo-etched parts to detail two of the most famous versions of the Porsche 935/78, better known by the nickname of Moby Dick. Renaissance has collected on the same photo-etched plate the small differences in some elements of the official Martini version and the JDavid version used at Le Mans in 1982 by John Fitzpatrick's team. Elements such as the base of the driver's seat, the gear lever, the stabilizer bars regulator, grilles, different tank caps, pedals, among many others, will undoubtedly improve the appearance of your model. Sensational!

Additional details for the Porsche 935/78 Moby Dick detail up set:

The Porsche 935 is a racing car based on the road racing Porsche 911 930 Turbo. It was developed to dominate the grand tourism championships, being included in Group 5 of the 3rd generation, the famous silhouettes, a category that was in force between the 1976 and 1982 seasons. Among its rivals were models such as the Ferrari 512 BB, the BMW M1, the Lancia Beta Montecarlo or the Ford Capri.

Few competition cars can boast of a record as extensive as that of the Porsche 935, since between 1976 and 1984 it achieved more than 150 victories around the world. In the World Endurance Championship, the IMSA GT Championship or the German DRM, it was perfectly normal to see the 935 taking the top positions.

Currently, its price ranges from $60,000 for a normal 935 (engine not included), and $600,000 for a Moby Dick (the 1978 Le Mans version).

The Porsche 935 won the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as other major endurance races such as Sebring, Daytona and the 1,000km Nürburgring. Of the 370 races he entered, he won 123.

Typically, no other brand could challenge the Porsche 935, due to the availability of customer models. It was common at the time to find at least five 935s among those entered for each race, but as the races grew in popularity, the lack of competition became a problem for the brand. The large turbocharger was used in combination with a mechanical fuel injection system, causing a lag in turbo input followed by a ball of fire shooting out of the exhaust and a massive amount of power (up to 800 bhp). The dominance of the 935 ended with the FIA rule changes that came into effect in 1982, when the six number-based groups were replaced by just three groups, A, B and the Sport Prototypes or Gr.C.

SpotModel recommends this product exclusively for experienced professional modellers and collectors. Take appropriate precautions as this product is not a toy, it can be toxic and/or dangerous. Keep away from children. Use is not allowed for children under 14 years.
