Additional details for the
Talbot Lotus Sunbeam car scale model kit:
Maybe no one expected Talbot to win the world rally manufacturers' title in 1981, but the regularity of his drivers, with seven podium positions including the victory in the Argentina rally with Frequelín at the wheel, allowed him to obtain enough points to beat brands like Opel or Ford. With this vehicle, the legendary Henri Toivonen achieved his first victory in the world rally championship, in the RAC in 1980, also becoming at that time the youngest winner in history at only 24 years old, a record that took more than 30 years to overcome. Its 4-cylinder 16-valve Lotus engine, mounted longitudinally at the front with a 45-degree slant to the left, it was a critical part of its success in the world championship, as Talbot did not have such an engine among its products.
