What to say about this true beast of the late 90's! Its water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line 4-stroke engine, with a displacement of 1,199 cc, delivered an impressive 178 hp at 10,500 rpm. The Tamiya kit faithfully recreates each and every one of the details of the real model, including a complete exploded view of the engine and exhaust system, which you can choose to leave "almost" in sight thanks to the "semi-transparent" plastic-injected fairing.

Additional details for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R motorbike scale model kit:
In the late '90s it meant a lot to Japanese manufacturers to be able to say you had the fastest production motorcycle on the planet. The Kawasaki ZX-12R was presented as the maximum exponent of raw power of the green brand, rivalling the Suzuki Hayabusa and the Honda CBR 1100 XX Super Blackbird, and registering maximum speeds close to 300 km/h.
The engine of the ZX-12R is a four-cylinder in-line with 1,199 cc of contained dimensions. One feature that made this engine special was its huge compression ratio of 12.2:1, achieved by using specially cast pistons with very thin piston rings to minimize friction losses. To reduce weight, engine elements such as the clutch, cylinder head and alternator covers were made of magnesium. In addition, it had another peculiarity in the intake system, with a huge air intake in the front part that channelled the fresh air towards its gigantic "Airbox" through ducts that crossed the frame to guarantee a flow nice and direct.
The chassis was the great innovation of the ZX-12R, being the first production aluminium monocoque chassis. At the time, Kawasaki claimed that this type of frame was stronger and stiffer than a conventional alloy beam frame.
Outwardly, the Kawasaki ZX-12R had a powerful and manly image. It had side appendages on the fairing to improve stability at high speed, its tail was extremely sharp, its wheelbase was the shortest among the bikes in its class, and its rear tire had a huge width of 200 millimetres, being manufactured specifically by Dunlop or Bridgestone.
This was the Kawasaki ZX-12R, powerful, with cutting-edge aerodynamics and a radical monocoque chassis.
