The racing version that Porsche developed for the GT championships from the 911 993, and that over time underwent several evolutions, apart from being used by countless teams. The Tamiya model reproduces the one used by the famous Taisan team in the Japanese championship. The kit is similar to the street version also from Tamiya, but includes specific parts, such as the
slick tires or the flat floor, as well as the corresponding decal sheet. An essential reference, which will also serve as the basis for the
multiple versions available thanks to the sets and decals from other manufacturers. For one reason or another, don't miss it!

Paints recommended by Tamiya / SpotModel for this product:
The Porsche 911 Type 993 was the last of the iconic 911 models to be equipped with air-cooled engines, and Cup and GT2 versions were also available to customers.
The GT2 was based on the 911 Turbo, featuring only rear-wheel drive, and was characterized by its riveted wheel arch extensions, as well as the massive rear wing borrowed from the 993 Carrera RS Clubsport. In 1995, the first version with a power of 430 CV was launched, manufacturing a total of 172 units.
In 1998, the revised GT2 delivered a power of 450 HP, which with a curb weight of 1,295 kilograms allowed acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1, reaching a top speed of 300 km/h. Of this variant only 21 cars were built.
Between 1995 and 1997, the Porsche 911 GT2 also had its specific competition version, called 911 GT2 Evolution, being chosen by many teams. The GT2 Evolution had twin K27 turbochargers from the KKK (Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch) brand, reaching power levels of around 600 hp at 7,000 rpm, being limited by a 40.4-millimeter air restrictor. The Porsche GT2 beat the copper on the track with tough competition, such as the Ferrari F40 Competition or the McLaren F1 GTR with up to 700 CV.
