Newsletter 496: Well done, boss!!!

Well done, boss!!!

Well done, boss!!!
As we announced in our previous newsletter, the Fuengirola Scale Modeling Contest took place last weekend, and there we went like every other year to meet up with old friends and make new friends, talk about models and have a good time having some beers... :)

The showcases were packed to overflowing, with almost 1000 builds in the competition. And what can we say? We came back home very happy, because in addition to enjoying a model event again (which we were already looking forward to), the BMW R75 and the Maserati 250F presented by the boss to the competition were awarded by the very demanding and experienced jury. Two different builds assembled with all the love and tenderness, just like we prepare your orders at SpotModel, as it couldn't be otherwise.

The boss got so excited that he's already preparing his next build, to be presented at Jabbeke. It is not yet confirmed that it will be held in 2022 but we are all waiting impatiently for the good news. Everything suggests that he will include some of the novelties of this week such as the Decalcas fittings in 0.8mm size, the reedited decals by Tabu, some of the Porsche 911 by Arena... we'll see :D

It seems that, as he says, SpotModel's thinking head still knows how to build scale models :)

Arena Modelli Reference: ARE1128

The cars built by Alex Job's team were characterized by the location of the engine in a different position with respect to the rear axle, ceasing to be cantilevered and becoming in front, almost in a central position. This theoretically should have improved their behavior, but the reality is that they never got any significant results. In his participation in the 1992 24 Hours of Daytona with the drivers Pezza, Padilla and Sheldon, he finished in eighteenth place.

Profil24 Reference: P24134K

Change the regulations between the GT's, but for Toyota the new rules of the Hypercar did not mean any change in the result obtained in the 24 hours of Le Mans, getting the victory again with the car number 7, which was then the fourth consecutive for Toyota. Profil24 has reproduced this spectacular model in resin, which includes a pair of cockpit doors for those who want to expose the interior. Nothing like seeing its details to discover the complexity of the asymmetric decoration of the bodywork, with a different distribution of red and black colors on the left and right. Spectacular no matter where you look at it!

Profil has been able to reproduce the shapes and essence of the car, with its large rear spoiler and its transparent plastic rear cover that partially reveals the engine and gearbox. A little piece of French history!

Profil24: Car scale model kit 1/24 scale - Cunningham C-4RK #2, 3 - Phil Walters + Duane Carter, Charles Moran + John Gordon Bennett - 24 Hours Le Mans 1952 and 1953 - photo-etched parts, resin parts, vacuum formed parts, water slide decals, other materials, assembly instructions and painting instructions

Profil24 Reference: P24136K

At the beginning of the 50s it was easy to find several Cunningham models participating in sporting events, even in the 24 hours of Le Mans, although the most common was that they were "spyder" versions. The curious thing about the C-4RK model is that it was a closed version ... and a very competitive one. Not surprisingly, in the 1952 edition number #2 achieved third position on the grid, although later in the race he had to quit. This resin kit allows us to choose in its assembly between the 1952 or 1953 versions (number #3), when it finished in tenth position.

Arena Modelli Reference: ARE1140
