Introduced in 1989, the Skyline GT-R was the high-performance sports variant of the Nissan Skyline R32. Commonly known as the "Godzilla", the R32 GT-R had a variety of limited-edition versions such as the Nismo, V-Spec I and V-Spec II, but the base model was still an incredibly capable car. The base model of the GT-R was powered by Nissan's legendary RB26DETT engine, a twin-turbocharged 2.6-liter inline-six unit that delivered a claimed 280 hp, although actual power figures were higher. In addition to the RB26DETT engine, another reason for the GT-R's incredible performance was its Nissan HICAS four-wheel steering system, as well as its ATTESA all-wheel drive system. Production of the base model Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R continued until 1994.
